Ambassador Spotlight:
Hisham Abdel Khalek

Filmmaker

“Omni 20C+ - a welcome lifeline to give your devices extra hours of power.“

Omnicharge is proud to put the ambassador spotlight on director, producer, and writer Hisham Abdel. The awarding-winning filmmaker is the co-owner of both So Freakantastik, a Paris production house, and H&O Production LLC, a New York production house. He's also an avid user of Omnicharge products, which help keep him powered up when he's on the go.

Hisham's busy life means splitting time between Paris and New York. He also regularly travels the world to make his films and attend to other projects that require on-location shoots. Hisham would be far less productive without his Omnicharge products at his side.

Hisham Abdel Khalek Is Putting It All On Film

Films have enthralled Hisham Abdel Khalek for most of his life. He frequented movie theaters as a child and quickly realized that he had a passion for the craft. His goal became to tell stories that focused on topics with a personal meaning to him. He hoped to be able to share his passions with others.

Though filmmaking started as a hobby, it became his life's work. The turning point came when Hisham became the artistic director of the Alexandria Film Festival. He was only 18 and going to school for computer engineering because it was what his parents wanted him to do. But his creative side won out. He did finish his degree, but the experience changed his focus and pushed him into the film industry.

Hisham's career hasn't been without its challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic impacted him as much as it did the world, to the extent that he even began rethinking his career path. The uncertainty of what the pandemic would do to the industry was daunting, and the public health measures made it difficult to work. Still, he persevered, obtaining his own equipment and shifting his focus to documentary filmmaking.

A Plethora of Personal Works

Hisham has worked on many rewarding projects, including a music video featuring world-class soprano Amira Selim, the musical Akhenaten, documentaries showcasing Egyptians and their struggles and triumphs in Europe, and other short and full-length films released in markets around the globe.

Perhaps his most well-known piece is the documentary A Footnote in Ballet History. The film is available on several platforms and has appeared at various international film festivals.

Its accolades include:

2017 Winner of best documentary film at the Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou;
2017 Winner of a special award at the Sunlight International Film Festival;
2017 Nominee in the Cinema of the World section at the Dhaka International Film Festival;
2017 Nominee for a jury award at the US Archaeology Channel International Film and Video Festival;
2017 Nominee for best director at the Gold Movie Awards;
2017 Nominee for the cultural film award at the Festival International de Cinema de Marseille;
2016 Nominee for international panorama at the Cairo International Film Festival

Currently, Hisham is working with Egyptian comedian Bassem Youssef on his European tour to produce a show about the challenges Arab comedians often face in Europe.

Staying Powered Up with Omnicharge

Hisham's partnership with Omnicharge is nothing short of serendipity. His battery packs are his most essential equipment for rolling out unique projects. His productivity relies on keeping his devices powered, and Omnicharge products assist him at every step.

Hisham loves the versatility of the Omni 20C+ and notes that Omnicharge products have helped him feel more in control. With them, he can focus his talents on directing and producing instead of worrying about power limits. He calls the Omni 20C+ "a welcome lifeline to give your devices extra hours of power."

Omnicharge offers a series of solutions for on-the-go power, especially for professionals who need their power banks to be reliable, versatile, and portable. Look for the Omnicharge logo featured in the closing credits, trailers, and marketing materials of Hisham's films.

Hisham learned the hard way that a dead battery can ruin a day. Once, after a long day of shooting and production, his iPhone died. He couldn't communicate with his crew, so he had to get to them — but he lost his phone on the way. Hisham admits that if he'd been using the Omni 20C+, he would probably still have that phone, and the experience wouldn't have left him completely frustrated.
